"Assisting communities in the development of parks and athletic programs"

The Catch 22 Dilemma:

Studies indicate that most park departments, recreation districts and sports associations are severely underfunded and therefore their park and athletic field inventories do not meet the needs or standards of their communities.

Directed by Mike Walker, RLA, Sports Genesis, a 501(c)(3) classified non-profit program, fills a need for these communities that do not have the department resources or do not have the appropriate funds to start the development process of new athletic parks or the renovation of existing facilities.  This is especially true for smaller communities.

Many potential recreation, park and renovation projects never get to the drawing board because recreation districts, park agencies and youth sports associations are caught in a situation where they do not have the necessary funds or interest from an outside group to cover the costs to master plan a project but need a master plan to generate funds and interest for a potential project.  This is the classic catch 22 scenario

Mission Statement:

It is Sports Genesis’ mission to eliminate this catch 22 scenario by providing these professionally designed and rendered Conceptual Master Plans and its associated design and construction cost estimates.  Through an indentification process, these services will be provided, for no fee, to the selected public recreation agencies or youth sports associations in need.  The plans and information provided by Sports Genesis are to be used by the agency or association to generate interest and funds for their project by being able to apply for grants, and present to local boards with accurate ideas and costs.  These agencies can now truly eliminate their catch 22 dilemma and “kick-start” a potential project without having to invest any of their own initial money.

  • Engineers
  • Local General and Sub Contractors

Conceptual Master planning is a critical (but often neglected) first step in any design project.  It allows the agency to think through all of their needs, develop an accurate program and be able to analyze the potential costs

Conceptual master plans and program analysis like this can be provided to the local community or school districts that need to improve or expand their athletic and park facilities.
